1 Academic Lab Technician - Skilled academic for practical radiochemical analysis tasks
 
We need an experienced academic or an experienced technician for our laboratory. The primary focus is on radiochemical analysis for environmental radioactivity monitoring and waste characterization for nuclear decommissioning. Your passion should be in the practical work running sample analysis for radioactivity determination and maintaining relevant equipment. You will be daily responsible securing effective analytical support for our routine, commercial and research projects.
 
Radiochemical analysis plays an important role in many of our projects at the department. Our researchers are dependent on our attention to quality in the analytical process. Thus we can offer a challenging position where you will be deeply involved in research and commercial projects.
 
You will be part of DTU Environment’s Radioecology and Tracer Studies section – a leading group in Europe within radiochemical analysis.
 
Based on your competencies and experience you will search information in relevant scientific literature, develop and implement analytical methods including method descriptions. You will be in close collaboration with researchers and other technicians as part of our laboratory technician team. You will work with extraction, preparation and running of large sample series, calculation of results, including quality assurance before the delivery and communication of results to researchers and customers.
 
 
Education and experience with radiochemical analysis
 
The ideal candidate has more than 5 years of relevant practical experience with radiochemical analysis and competencies on a bachelor degree level. It will be an advantage to have experience from a certified laboratory.
 
We expect:                   
 
    Experience with literature search
    Ability to perform independent preparation of method descriptions and procedures
    In depth knowledge of different types of instruments for radioactivity measurements (alpha, beta, gamma, ICP-MS, ICP-OES), software, data, and data treatment
    In depth knowledge of quality assurance
    Flair for method development and troubleshooting
    That you are fluent in English and a Scandinavian language.
    A structured, but flexible and responsible approach
    Ability to prioritize tasks and to get them finalized
    A constructive approach to new tasks in the collaboration with your colleagues

The position is full time with start on May 1, 2020 or later upon agreement.
