Open position for a Radiation Safety Specialist at University of Georgia’s Savannah River Ecology Laboratory

The Savannah River Ecology Laboratory (SREL, https://srel.uga.edu/) is a research unit of the University of Georgia. SREL conducts a wide variety of ecological research on the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site, as well as conducting a graduate student program, along with an Outreach program aimed at educating the public about various aspects of ecology.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree with minimum of 4 years experience or Technical Diploma, Associate’s Degree or two years of college course work (in what area) and minimum of 6 years experience. License: Driver’s license required. May require related safety course (e.g. Radiation Safety Short Course, Radiation Safety Officer course)

Prefered Qualification:

Masters Degree with previous radiological associated work experience.

Position Summary:

This position will be responsible for the interface between SREL and the Savannah River Site radiological department. It will also be responsible for the oversight of radiological research at SREL.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:

Knowledge of radiation hazards and safe working practices. Ability to work well with different organizations and coordinate projects among different groups.
