2nd International Conference on “Environment, Survival and Sustainability”

The 1st International Conference on Environment: Survival and Sustainability in 2007 has been completed with great success. The conference welcomed over 3,000 participants and valued contributors from 108 different countries. In total, 1,463 research works were presented.

 

This year, the aim is to bring together many scholars and researchers from countries all around the world to discuss environmental issues from a variety of perspectives. Relevant UN and EU Agencies as well as other international and regional organizations will be invited to the conference as sponsors. Our scientific committee and advisory board are composed ofindividuals from many different countries who are highly respected and experienced in their respective fields.

 

Sustainability plays a vital role in protecting our planet including our natural environment, human and ecological health, while also driving innovation and meeting our needs without compromising the needs of the future generations.

 

Today, we as human beings are suffering from the impact of climate change and global warming, and this is due to rapid and uncontrolled industrialization. Climate change related hazards are ongoing and

increasing every day. It is clear that climate change is the most urgent issue affecting the planet right now. It is now well known that climate change is the main reason behind the dramatic decline in agricultural productivity, increased water stress, rising sea levels and high risks to human health, especially in the developing regions of the world. Therefore, with this conference, we are aiming to reach scientists, regulation makers, decision-makers, politicians, environmentalists, students, representatives from business, industry, non-governmental organizations, specialists and

researchers who are well aware of the importance of environmental sustainability when overcoming the consequences of climate change and global warming.

 

Since 1987, the importance of sustainability has been highlighted and until now, insufficient action has been taken to achieve environmental sustainability. Therefore, on-going degradation of the environment, pollution, dwindling fresh water supplies, and particularly numerous natural mega-disasters such as typhoons, earthquakes, and landslides are happening all over the world. Due to this reason, we have decided this year to focus the world’s attention on the urgent need for more research and practical steps on environmental issues with the call to this conference.

It increasingly clear that today, scientists have to take steps to achieve sustainability in all aspects of the environment in order to overcome and control environmental disasters and to make sure the world in which we live can be sustained.

 

In addition to seminar sessions, we plan to hold a *workshop* session entitled *“The Impacts of Global Climate Change on the Environment”*.

Furthermore, we intend to organize a multi-disciplinary discussion forum in which international experts from academia, policymaking and industry can discuss water resources, management, and related problems.

 

Environmental companies with varied products and systems will also be invited to display their businesses and make technical presentations during an *exhibition*.

 

All proceedings from the conference will be published by Near East University. Selected papers will be published by leading scientific journals in special conference issues.
