The current IUR Board of Council has formally reached its term in 2019, but due to the Covid pandemic, it has not been possible since then to run election of a new Board in good conditions. As per the current constitution, the Board remained in force since then. Given that we have returned to quasi normal conditions of work, the Secretariat is now engaging the procedure necessary to organise the election round. The intention is to relaunch IUR activities on refreshed grounds with a new strategy to be led by the future Board of Council.
The first step of this procedure is to identify the candidates willing to actively contribute to IUR’s activities by holding one or the other responsibility within the Board of Council during the next 4 years term. Any IUR member duly registered is eligible. A candidate is also expected to take an active role in the management of the Union dedicated to improving the audience of Radioecology such as developing good liaison with the relevant scientific community, promoting scientific developments, active networking, ensuring report publication, supporting education and information exchange, seeking sponsors and managing the IUR finances, etc... I am therefore calling all IUR members willing to take such responsibilities to let me know in writing.
All candidacies must be directed to the IUR Secretariat (armelle.guilloux@ellipseco.fr), with copy to myself (fran.brechignac@gmail.com) and Carmel Mothersill (mothers@mcmaster.ca), before the 31st of October 2022, and will necessarily include:
- a declaration of candidacy, mentioning the name, first name, address, email and current professional position of the candidate,
- a declaration of the responsibility expected to be held within the Board of Council (if any),
- a declaration of intention mentioning the various aspects of the candidate's projects to be executed if successfully elected, such as a programme of action, a development strategy for the IUR, etc...
A secret ballot vote will be organised shortly next, before Christmas time. Further practical indications will be given in due time to each IUR member.
