This book contains proceedings of the annual Radioecological readings named after V.M. Klechkovsky (1900-1972), the founder of national radioecology, participant of the USSR Atomic project. It includes the first unclassified offset publication of the Biophysical laboratory of the USSR Ministry of Farming affiliated to the Timiryazev Agricultural Academy in Moscow "On the behavior of radioactive fission products in soils, their uptake by plants and accumulation in crop yields" edited by V.M. Klechkovsky, Moscow: USSR Academy of Sciences Publisher, 1956. The book is intended for specialists in ecology, radiobiology, agroecology, protection of agricultural areas from anthropogenic effects.

The papers included in this book deal with problems of radionuclide migration in the environment, ionizing radiation effects on biota and ecosystems (with special attention to low-level ionizing radiation effects), combined effects of ionizing radiations and pollutants of non-radiation nature on biota, ecological dosimetry. Also discussed are problems of remediation of contaminated regions and radiation protection of the environment.
