The
International Union of Radioecologists (IUR) is a non-political
and non-profit scientific organisation for professional radioecologists.
It aims first at being a forum of information exchange between the
radioecologists. The environment, being a complex data urges at
having also information exchanges with scientists, involved in environmental
research and management of non-radioactive nature. The IUR seeks
therefore to promote this information exchange. For this reason,
it organises or co-organises Workshops, Conferences and other discussion
fora.
The IUR is organised through an international Membership, meeting
once a year at the General Assembly. The General Assembly evaluates
the works of a Board of Council, elected for four years. The Board
of Council delegates parts of its responsibilities to an Executive
Committee, responsible for the daily management of the Union.
Own IUR activities are organised through a number of Task Groups,
that endeavours to discuss the most relevant actual problems in
the field.
The IUR publishes a four-monthly Newsletter, occasionally an electronic
letter for quick information. The results of the Task Groups eventually
lead to special IUR publications.
