Project Title: Radionuclides in the Environment - Migration and Speciation
There is one open position for an Invited Scientist (IS) to perform R&D within the project Earth Systems, Radioactivity and Cultural Heritage in the Center for Nuclear Sciences and Technologies (C2TN), Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Multi/04349, with the financial support of FCT/ MEC through national funds and if applicable co-financed by the ERDF under the PT2020 Partnership Agreement:
Scientific Area: Environmental Sciences: Environmental Radioactivity.
• Ph.D. in Radiochemistry, Geosciences or related scientific areas; preferential skills are: experience, including radioanalytical and mass spectrometry techniques, and knowledge of speciation modelling.
This program intends to develop studies on radionuclides transfer in the environment. The selected candidate should develop and be leader of scientific activities in this domain, aiming at consolidating and further expand the research activities of C2TN within the thematic strand Earth Systems, Radioactivity and Cultural Heritage. These activities must include: i) development and application of analytical and radioanalytical techniques on environmental issues connected with the migration and separation of radionuclides in ecosystems; (ii) modelling; iii) national and international networking on environmental radioactivity and radioecology; iv) submission of projects for external funding.
Legislation and official rules: Law N º. 40/2004, dated August 18 (Statute of Scientific Research Fellow); and updated regulation for Studentships and Fellowships of the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/docs/RegulamentoBolsasFCT2015.pdf)

Selection method: The selection will be based on the: curriculum vitae and experience of the candidate, motivation letter, a document with a concise research project on migration and speciation of radionuclides in the environment (maximum 5 pages) and an interview. The research project must show clearly its novelty, the working plan to be implemented in accordance with the project main goal above referred and how the skills and background of the candidate are an added value. Each item will be valued on a scale of 0-20, with the following weighting: Curriculum vitae and experience (45%), research project (30%), motivation letter (10%) and interview (15%).
Deadline and application: The call will be open from 09 to 22 July 2015 (until 6 pm).
The application should be submitted electronically and must include: a cover letter, curriculum vitae, experience, academic certificates and other documents considered relevant, a motivation letter, two recommendation letters, and the project on migration and speciation of radionuclides in the environment (see above).
