The 9th ICOBTE was dedicated to the exchange of recent advancements in the biogeochemistry of trace elements.
Biogeochemistry has developed into an interdisciplinary science, linking phenomena observed in the biosphere to physical and chemical reactions in the pedo-, hydro- and lithosphere. The conference provided a forum for professionals, regulators, and students to present their most recent findings and to discuss with colleagues from around the world state-of-the-art methodologies, analytical techniques, and process development.
The conference was organised by Yongguan Zhu, Professor of Soil Environmental Sciences at the Chinese Academy of Science, Beijing, ex-Vice-President of IUR.
Within this Conference, IUR was sponsoring a dedicated Symposium entitled: "Fate and transport of radionuclides in the environment".
This Symposium aimed to increase our understanding of the fate and transport of radionuclides in biogeochemical systems, and to explore the role of innovative experimental and theoretical/modeling appproaches in enhancing this knowledge.
It also aimed to bring together key scientists, young researchers, students and regulators to provide a forum for presentation of recent findings and provoke fruitful discussion.
